Every building in Markhor Meadow takes real time to finish: 10 minutes for your first home, a few hours for a bakery or fishing lodge, and a full day for the mountain fortress and cathedral. They keep building while the game is closed, and the game can send a local notification when one is done.
Why real time
A cozy game should fit around a day instead of demanding all of it. Real-time building means a village grows in short visits: start a build over breakfast, help it along at lunch, reveal it in the evening. It also gives every reveal a little weight. You waited for that bakery.
How the timings were tuned
In an early test build every building finished in under a minute. That made the village fill up in one sitting and left nothing to come back to. The timings were rebuilt as a curve: the first buildings are quick so the first session has momentum, and the later landmarks take hours. Here is the shape of it:
| Building | Build time |
|---|---|
| Mayor’s house | 10 minutes |
| Workshop | 30 minutes |
| Sawmill | 45 minutes |
| Mason’s yard | 1 hour |
| Bakery | 2 hours |
| Fishing lodge | 3 hours 30 minutes |
| Watchtower | 4 hours |
| Town hall | 8 hours |
| Mountain fortress | 24 hours |
The full list is in the village guide.
Speeding things up, for free
- Help build. Tap it on a building site to take 5% off the build time, between 1 and 20 minutes, once every ten minutes per site.
- More builders. You start with two. The Mason’s yard adds a third and the Town hall a fourth, so more sites can run at once.
- Coins, if you like. Finishing instantly costs Coins, which you also earn free each day. The game always asks before spending them.
One thing never happens automatically: the reveal. When a building is done it waits under its tarp until you pull it off. That moment is yours.
