Markhor Meadow is coming to iPhone

Markhor Meadow key art: the mayor and friends in front of a mountain-valley village.

Markhor Meadow is a cozy village-building game for iPhone, and version 1.0 is being prepared for the App Store. You play the mayor of a new settlement in a mountain valley inspired by northern Pakistan, and you build it up from a single home.

The game has been played and tested on iPhones through more than twenty test builds. The App Store version is now in its final round of fixes. There is no release date to announce yet; when the game is live, this site will link straight to it.

What is in version 1.0

  • A whole village to build: your home, a workshop, sawmill, mason’s yard, bakery, orchard barn, goat shelter, healing house, fishing lodge, weaving house, watchtower, market and town hall, and later a mountain fortress and cathedral. Buildings finish in real time, even while you are away.
  • Gathering and crafting: wood, stone and ore, crafted into planks, blocks and cloth.
  • Fishing and gardening: a fish of the day in the river, vegetables and herbs in your garden.
  • Furnishing: step inside and fill every home with benches, lanterns, rugs, tables and planters.
  • Neighbors: ten residents with routines, favorite things, requests and morning letters, and trips to the pine forest, the mountain pass and the high glacier.
  • Zarif: the winged snow-leopard merchant who sells blueprints. Meet Zarif.
  • The sky dragon: glides over the valley and, when it lands on the summit, grants one wish per visit (35% chance).
  • A valley that changes: day and night, weather, four seasons, weekly festivals and a seven-day calendar.

What we promise

Markhor Meadow plays offline. It has no account, no ads and no tracking. It will be free to download. Coins are an optional in-app purchase that speeds up building and crafting; everything in the game can be earned by playing and waiting, and every Coin spend asks you to confirm first. The privacy policy spells out exactly what leaves your phone (only the purchase record when you buy Coins).

Where the name comes from

The markhor is a wild mountain goat with long spiral horns, found in the mountains of northern Pakistan and Central Asia, and Pakistan’s national animal. The game’s valley, its music and its residents draw on that part of the world.
